SMALL NETWORK CONFIGURATIONS

While we prefer using a dedicated server for Multi-user systems, small systems can successfully be configured using a Windows 98 or Windows NT Client or Windows 2000 client network without a dedicated server.  Windows XP professional version is recommended for networking as the XP home  is limited in Network functionality for Pier to Pier nets.

We prefer to run interfaces on separate computers as they are less susceptible to accidentally user created problems.  Older PC's are perfect for this function.

That being said, the interfaces can be run on a shared single computer.

Very effective 2 to 5 user configurations can be done without a dedicated server.

Architectural issues

In a Multi-User environment we prefer to run a Server version of the database so that speed and data safety are maximized.

Our products ship with a  client version of Pervasive SQL.   The server version of Pervasive software Pervasive SQL is what is usually loaded on the server.  This needs to be configured properly and installed.  The server version has the advantage of automatic backups while the system is still running.  It is an extra cost option as small networks can run Pier to Pier very successfully.

Our Internet products are currently using Microsoft SQL version 7 as the database with interfaces to our standard configuration.

For interfacing to additional databases, we are pleased to say that we can provide direct connectivity with  a number of different database providers including:

                            IBM

                            Informix

                            Lotus Notes

                            Microsoft  (Access and SQL)

                            Oracle

                            Sybase.

Please speak to us if you have another database that you need to Interface.

Our internet products require the use of an internet server.  You will need to speak with us in regard to how these should be configured.
